Gaizhou cashmere goat

The cashmere goat, a special product of Gaizhou, has white wool, the natural length of cashmere is 6.5 cm, the straight length is 7.9-11.47 cm, and the net rate of cashmere is 66.57%-75%, and it has the advantages of high yield, stable genetic performance and strong adaptability. In 1959, it was identified as a local fine breed in Liaoning Province by the general survey of livestock (poultry) varieties, and was called' Dingtun Cashmere Goat', and later named' Gaiping Cashmere Goat'. On October 4th, 1964, the People's Government of Liaoning Province (the Committee) approved the' Investigation Report on Gaiping Cashmere Goat' of the Provincial Department of Agriculture, and instructed the gaizhou city Agricultural Bureau to set up a cashmere goat breeding station to do a good job in cashmere goat breeding. In 1980, the Ministry of Agriculture invested 300,000 yuan to build Gaizhou cashmere goat breeding farm in Liaoning Province. Gaizhou Cashmere Goat was renamed' Liaoning Cashmere Goat'. This achievement won the second prize of the Ministry of Agriculture and the third prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award. In 1986, the Ministry of Agriculture approved gaizhou city as a national sheep raising base county. Over the years, gaizhou city has set up 30 core groups of cashmere goats, with a feeding capacity of 167,000 goats and an annual cashmere yield of 12-15 tons. It has sent 70,000 breeding goats to 221 counties (flags) in 22 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions such as Beijing and Xinjiang, which has played an important role in improving cashmere goats in other places. In 1988 and 1989, gaizhou city was awarded the title of' National Advanced Sheep Raising Base County' for two consecutive years.
