Asarum liaoense

Asarum is a perennial herb of Aristolochiaceae, which is mainly distributed in forest areas of Liaoning, Jilin and Heilongjiang, and has a cultivation history of more than 2,000 years. Asarum in Liaoning Province is mainly distributed in Kuandian, Fengcheng, Huanren, Benxi, Xinbin and other places in the eastern mountainous areas. Dandong is the main producing area, commonly known as "Asarum liaotungensis", which is the top grade of Asarum and has high medicinal value. With wild asarum extinct, Dandong began to cultivate it in the early 1980s, and it was successful. The cultivated area of asarum in the city is more than 3,400 mu, with an annual output of more than 530 tons. The mountainous area suitable for planting asarum in the city is more than 200,000 mu. In traditional Chinese medicine, asarum herb is used as a medicine, which is warm in nature, pungent in taste, warming meridians to dispel cold, dissolving drinks, expelling wind and relieving pain. It is mainly used for treating wind-cold headache, cough and asthma due to phlegm retention, rheumatic arthralgia, toothache and nasal sinusitis.
