Tussah, also known as mountain silkworm, is one of the famous specialties in Liaoning Province. It belongs to Arthropoda, Insecta, Lepidoptera and Silkworm moth. Tussah is named because it feeds on oak leaves. There are natural sericulture farms everywhere in Liaoning Province from Liaodong Peninsula in the east to mountainous areas in western Liaoning Province. Xiuyan, Fengcheng, Kuandian, Gaixian, Xifeng, Xinjin, Haicheng and Liaoyang in Changbai Mountain and Qian Shan Mountain are the key production areas, and the output of tussah cocoon in Liaoning Province accounts for about 80% of the total national output. Tussah is a treasure, and the cocoon shell is the fiber of noble animal eggs, which can be used to weave silk for clothing, decoration and industry. Tussah cocoon silk can also be widely used in military industry, chemical industry, medicine and so on. Tussah pupa contains a lot of protein and amino acids, which is a nutritious food.
