The word "agate" comes from Buddhist scriptures, and it is called "Asmagapo" in Sanskrit, which means "horse brain". Because the ancients did not understand the reason why agate produced stripes, they thought it was "the stone of horse brain" Later generations thought that "horse brain" belonged to jade, so it was changed to the side of oblique jade and turned into the word "agate". Agate belongs to aphanitic Shi Ying, which is a silica solution with different colors. It is a concentric layer or parallel layer-like mineral which is formed by filling around the cavity or fissure of rock in stages. It has a glassy luster and is mainly produced in volcanic cracks and cavities. The most artistic feature of agate is the beautiful patterns with concentric ring-like, layered, corrugated, filiform and grass-like shapes. The colors of its patterns are varied, such as white, gray, yellow brown, black and so on. Because agate has natural pores, it can also be dyed into various colors such as red, blue, green, yellow, brown and purple.
