According to experts, Populus euphratica, also known as Populus heterophylla, is a deciduous tree. The shape of his leaves is changeable, and the tiller leaves are needle-shaped at seedling stage. The adult leaves are triangular, hexagonal and round, with coarse teeth at the tip. Most of them grow in ancient river beds with shallow groundwater, and have the characteristics of liking light, resisting salinity, drought and flood, and resisting heat and cold. The reproduction of Populus euphratica is mainly based on roots and tillers, and its life span can reach thousands of years under the conditions of sandy soil and good water content. Only Xinjiang, Alashan in Inner Mongolia and Siziwangqi have Populus euphratica.
