Wuyuan sunflower

Wuyuan sunflower is a specialty of Wuyuan County, Bayannaoer City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Sunflower planting in Wuyuan County has a long history and is a famous "hometown of sunflower". Wuyuan county is a famous sunflower planting county in China, with an annual planting area of more than 700,000 mu and a total output of about 150,000 tons. The county has formed a relatively mature industrial cluster of sunflower seed planting, roasted seeds and nuts, and circulation, especially the export trade of sunflower seeds has become a characteristic industry in the autonomous region and even the whole country. Up to now, among the 56 foreign trade enterprises registered in the county, 34 are engaged in the processing and export of sunflower seeds and kernels, with an annual processing capacity of more than 50,000 tons of sunflower seeds. From January to October this year, the county exported 21,807 tons of sunflower seeds on its own, achieving an export value of US$ 29.79 million, accounting for 63.9% of the county's total self-export in the same period. The main export destinations are Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Iran, South Korea, China and Taiwan Province.
