Spirulina etuokensis

Lake Chahannaoer in Otok Banner, Lake Chad in Africa and Lake Tuscoco in Mexico are listed as the three natural alkali lakes in the world where spirulina species grow because of their PH values above 9.0. In 1996, Qiao Chen, a professor at Inner Mongolia Agricultural University, led a spirulina research group to investigate the alkali lake in the sand area of Ordos, and unexpectedly discovered natural spirulina platensis in Chahannaoer alkali lake in Otog Banner. Because the species of spirulina in Chahannaoer Lake is rich in 22-C 6-enoic acid-commonly known as "brain gold", it ranks first among the three spirulina lakes in the world. In 2003, since the trial cultivation of spirulina began in Otog Banner, by 2007, the annual output of spirulina reached more than 700 tons. By 2008, the spirulina industry has developed into a pillar industry in Otog Banner, with an annual output of 750 tons of spirulina accounting for 1/4 of the national output.
