In 1998, Tongliao Wufeng Foreign Economic and Trade Company obtained the quota of live cattle for Hong Kong and began to operate the business of live cattle for Hong Kong. In March, 2000, under the impetus of Tongliao Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, the brand of "Tongliao Fat Cattle" passed the registration of national geographical indication of origin, becoming the first brand in China to be registered with geographical indication of origin of "Big Livestock".
