Niujiayingzi Town belongs to Harqin Banner, Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia, and is located in the south of the city and the northeast of Harqin Banner. The total area of the town is 354 square kilometers. The town has jurisdiction over 18 administrative villages and 288 villagers' groups, with a total of 12,934 households, a total population of 53,134 and a resident population of 5,837. There are four ethnic groups in the town: Mongolian, Han, Manchu and North Korea. Niujiayingzi Town is one of the important production and marketing bases of Chinese herbal medicines in China. The specialty of crops is Chinese herbal medicines, among which Glehnia littoralis and Platycodon grandiflorum are the most famous, and they are known as "the hometown of Glehnia littoralis and Platycodon grandiflorum in China." Under the scientific guidance of the government and the Chinese Herbal Medicine Association, Niujiayingzi Town in Harqin Banner has planted 45,000 mu of Chinese herbal medicines, an increase of 8,000 mu compared with 2007, including 16,000 mu of Radix Glehniae and 25,000 mu of Radix Platycodi. The cultivation of medicinal materials has become the main source of income for local farmers.
