Liucun Chinese herbal medicine

Liucun is located in the south of Anze County, Shanxi Province, 5 kilometers west of Mabi Township. There are four natural villages, three villagers' groups, 143 households with 433 people and 1,153 mu of cultivated land. In recent years, based on the advantages of barren hills, Liucun village has constantly adjusted its industrial structure and vigorously developed the cultivation of Chinese herbal medicines. There are 123 villagers in the village who have participated in the cultivation of Chinese herbal medicines. In 2007, Liucun established Shennong Chinese Herbal Medicine Cooperative, which integrates production, supply and marketing, and the planting area of medicinal materials reached 2,550 mu, including 1,500 mu of Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi, 1,000 mu of Forsythia suspensa and 20 mu of Bupleurum. In 2010, the output value was 800,000 yuan and the net profit was 200,000 yuan. In 2011, 12 tons of Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi, 2 tons of Bupleurum chinense, 20 tons of Sophora flavescens and 60 tons of Forsythia suspensa were sold, achieving an output value of 1 million yuan and a net profit of 250,000 yuan, making the cultivation of Chinese herbal medicines take shape and become a pillar industry in Liucun. Its total industrial income accounts for 65% of the total rural economic income in the village. Taking the construction of new countryside as an opportunity, taking industrial adjustment as a breakthrough point, focusing on "one village, one product" (Chinese herbal medicine), and the development idea of "planting medicine in the mountains and enriching the people with medicine", Liucun strives to achieve rapid economic growth, constantly improve infrastructure, greatly improve villagers' lives and continuously increase collective accumulation. In 2008, the "two committees" of the village discussed and solicited the opinions of the masses, and finally decided to list the cultivation of Chinese herbal medicines as the key development project of "one village, one product" in Liucun, and implemented it. On August 31st, 2011, Liucun was awarded the title of "One Village, One Product Demonstration Village in China" by the Ministry of Agriculture.
