Shenchi millet

Shenchi millet is a specialty of Shenchi County, Xinzhou City, Shanxi Province. Shenchi millet is a national product protected by geographical indications of agricultural products. Millet, a monocotyledonous gramineous crop, panicum miliaceum, grows in the north, is drought-tolerant, and has slender and pointed leaves with parallel veins. The seed is also called millet, which is light yellow and vulgar after peeling, and the yellow rice is ground into flour, commonly known as yellow wheat, which is sticky and often used to make yellow cakes and make wine. The contents of eight amino acids essential for human body in millet seeds are higher than those in wheat, rice and corn, especially methionine, which is 140mg, 147mg and 149mg per 100g of wheat, rice and corn respectively, while that in millet is 299mg, almost twice as much as that in wheat, rice and corn. Shenchi county has high sea level, large temperature difference, high cold and cool. Unique landform, complete ecology and cool climate have bred many natural green foods such as Shenchi mutton, moon cakes, Hu oil and pumpkin. In 2013, "Shenchi Millet" declared by the Agricultural Technology Extension Center of Shenchi County, Shanxi Province passed the examination of the Agricultural Products Quality and Safety Center of the Ministry of Agriculture and organized expert review, and implemented the registration and protection of national geographical indications of agricultural products. Location: The geographical protection scope defined in 2013: 234 administrative villages in 10 townships including Longquan Town, Yijing Town, Bajiao Town, Donghu Township, Taipingzhuang Township, Hubei Township, Hezhi Township, Liebao Township, Changfan Township and Dayanbei Township in Shenchi County. The geographical coordinates are 111 42 ′ 00 ″ east longitude ~ 112 18 ′ 00 ″ north latitude ~ 38 56 ′ 00 ″ north latitude.
