Ephedra Longmen

It is produced in Hejin, Shanxi, and grows on sloping land and hilly land. It is mainly produced in Chaijia Town, Hejin City. Ephedra in Longmen is a well-known local Chinese medicine. According to legend, the famous Tang Dynasty Wei Chijingde picked Ephedra upside down on Longmen Mountain and gave it to the Tang king to get rid of the disease, hence the name "Ephedra upside down with golden hook". The plant height of ephedra in Longmen is hollow, with green outside and red inside, thin skin and thick flesh, and high alkali content. The stem is used as medicine, mild in nature, sweet and bitter in taste, has the functions of sweating and relieving exterior syndrome, dispersing lung qi and relieving asthma, and can treat exogenous wind-cold, fear of cold and fever, cough, asthma and edema. The root is used as medicine, which is flat and sweet, and can treat spontaneous sweating and night sweats.
