Pinglu county is produced in all towns and villages. Take Caochuan Town as an example. Due to the particularly dry weather in autumn of 1997, the nectar of Vitex negundo was almost never harvested, and many beekeepers reduced their scale or were unable to buy overwintering feed, resulting in the death of bees. So by 1998, statistics showed that there were more than 100 beekeepers in this town, with more than 3,000 boxes of bees, with an annual output of more than 50 tons of honey, 200 kilograms of royal jelly, 500 kilograms of bee wax and 300 kilograms of propolis, with a sales income of more than 300,000 yuan. Pinglu mountain area has unique beekeeping conditions. First, nectar resources are abundant. There are not only Robinia pseudoacacia and Vitex negundo, but also rape flowers, spike flowers and all kinds of wild flowers in the mountainous area of this county. The nectar resources are rich, and flowers bloom and fall from spring to autumn, so there is no feeding problem in normal years. Second, it has a unique geographical and climatic environment suitable for the development of bee industry. The flat land is long and narrow, with the river facing the mountain, high in the north and low in the south, and the climate is quite different. Even for the same nectar resource, the opening season is early and late, which provides a good place for bees to collect honey in a small turn. In the spring, the bees can be planted along the river first, and a large number of rape flowers can provide honey powder for the bees. In April, locust honey can be collected along the river and the Central Plains, and in May, Vitex negundo and various mountain nectar will continue until autumn, and all kinds of wild flowers and wild flowers will open for the second time, and the honey sources will continue. Apiculture has a broad development prospect in Pinglu.
