Simmental cattle

The introduction and improvement of Simmental cattle in Zuo Quan began in the 1970s. After nearly 30 years' improvement, there are 13,900 Simmental cattle, including 5360 in the first generation, 3800 in the second generation and 4240 in the third generation. It is a dual-purpose meat and milk variety, mainly distributed in the eastern and western villages of Zuoquan County. Simendar improved cattle are large in size, with strong bones and plump muscles. The back hair is mostly yellow and white flowers and red and white flowers, and the head, tail and limbs are white. Weight of newborn calves: 45 kg for bulls, 44 kg for cows, 450 kg for one year, 1100 kg for bulls and 660 kg for cows for adults. This variety has good meat quality, more lean meat in carcass, and the slaughter rate is 50%.
