Walnut in Zuo Quan

Walnut Zuoquan County is known as "the hometown of walnuts in China". Walnuts have been planted for more than 1,000 years. According to the records of Zuo Quan, walnuts were exported through Tianjin Port as early as the Qing Dynasty. Zuoquan County is located at the northern foot of Taihang Mountain, with an average elevation of about 1000 meters, an average temperature of 7.4℃, an effective accumulated temperature of 2887℃, and a frost-free period of about 138 days. The climate is mild and the rainfall is moderate. The rolling mountains and ravines in the territory, coupled with abundant microclimate and sufficient temperature difference, make the fruit in this area fully grouted, and the accumulated amount of sugar, fat and protein is high, which is suitable for the growth of walnut trees. In particular, eight townships including Tongyu, Matian, Zecheng, Qinquan, Sucheng, Guaier, Xiazhuang and Yangjiao have a long history of cultivating walnut trees.
