Sanhaogua

Sanhaogua, known as "honey pot" or "crystal sugar pot", was named after it was produced in Donghao, Xihao and Zhonghao villages on the south bank of Xiaohe River in Yuci. In Yuci dialect, "Hao" and "He" are homonyms, also known as "Sanhe" watermelon. There is no evidence to test when "Sanhao Gua" originated. According to historical records, in July of the 43rd year of Qing Emperor Kangxi (1704), Emperor Kangxi toured Sanjin and came to Yuci, where the heat was unbearable. He ate Sanhao watermelon, a native product of Yuci, to quench his thirst and cool off the summer heat. As a result, it was crisp, zefeng, sweet and delicious, and he felt refreshed, and the summer heat quenched his thirst. In addition to his joy, he wrote a book, "It's difficult to play the summer heat, but happy in the autumn". From then on, "every year when the melons are ripe, the magistrate of a county selects the best products, loads them in baskets and transports them to the capital by special personnel, and presents them to the court with 640 pieces of tribute. After the third year of Jiaqing (1798), he was granted an imperial edict to exempt him from half of it, with a total of 200 yuan per year and 100 yuan per year. It was not until the sixth year of Guangxu (1880) that it was exempted forever. " According to the History of Yuci, it took 176 years to pay tribute to the emperor "Sanhao Gua". Therefore, "Sanhao Gua" is famous all over the world. "Sanhao Gua" is regular in shape, small in size, but even, thin and tough in skin, easy to preserve, crisp in flesh, high in sugar, and even sweet in skin. Its biggest feature is that when the melon is cut in half, the flesh of the melon can bulge, but the skin can't be closed. In the hot summer, the cut melon can be kept for two days without rotting. Wang Pingge, a great scholar at the end of the Qing Dynasty (a longevity man in Yuci West), once wrote a poem for the "Three Haogua": "A delicious melon garden is brewed, and I dare not taste the supreme first. Fortunately, I am promoted to Anshuyi, and it is your grace to be willing to share the water.
