Codonopsis pilosula with five stamens

Lingchuan County, the "Five-stamen" Codonopsis pilosula, is an authentic producing area of Ludang, and the quality of Codonopsis pilosula produced is excellent. Among the codonopsis pilosula, Huangsongbei in Lingchuan County produces the most famous "five stamens". There is a saying among the people: "A thousand kilograms of ginseng and ten thousand kilograms of ginseng are not as good as a' five-stamen' on Huang Songbei". The sugar content and medicinal value of "five stamens" are twice to one and a half times higher than those of ordinary codonopsis pilosula. It is oily, powdery, slag-free, and often remains soft. Lingchuan's "five-flowered" Codonopsis pilosula sells well in more than ten provinces and cities such as Henan, Hebei, Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan and Hunan. Also exported to Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Japan and Laos, etc. The planting area of Codonopsis pilosula in the county is 20,000 mu, and the annual output can reach 1.5 million kilograms. In October 2004, the GAP base of Codonopsis pilosula in our county became the first in China to pass the on-site inspection in National Medical Products Administration.
