"Bean jelly", this snack is a summer food made of mung bean powder. The Dictionary of Traditional Chinese Medicine contains: mung bean jelly has the functions of "clearing away heat and toxic materials, treating pain, gangrene, swelling, scald, fall and injury, and relieving fever, pharmaceutical affairs, wine and food." Exactly which dynasty and generation, year and month "bean jelly" came from has not been verified clearly. But there is a legend about bean jelly snacks in Changzhi City, Shanxi Province. According to legend, there is a magnificent, majestic, verdant pine and cypress, clean and dust-free, picturesque Cilin Mountain with an altitude of 1,160 m in the 20km south of Zhangzi County in Changzhi area. There is a famous Faxing Temple in China on the mountain, with strange architecture, upturned cornices and antique appearance. There are more than 20 monks living in the temple, who have been vegetarian for years. Cilin Mountain is a land of geomantic omen, with green water and fertile land, and all kinds of grain planted are full, bright and fragrant. In particular, there is a kind of "ripped green mung bean", which is sweet, flat and non-toxic. It not only satisfies hunger, is rich in nutrition, but also has the medicinal effects of body building, dietotherapy and longevity.
