Changzi green pepper is a specialty of Zhangzi County, Changzhi City, Shanxi Province. "eldest son big green pepper" is favored by merchants and consumers because of its unique quality of big meat, bright color, storage resistance and easy transportation, and enjoys the reputation of "the best sweet pepper in the world", which has become an important geographical indication product famous at home and abroad. Therefore, in 1998, our county was named as "the hometown of green peppers in China" by the committee of China specialty. In 2007, "eldest son big green pepper" was protected by the geographical indication of agricultural products of the Ministry of Agriculture. Zhangzi County, Shanxi Province is the "Hometown of Green Peppers in China" awarded by China Specialty Committee. The large green peppers produced in this county occupy domestic and foreign markets with large size, thick meat and delicious quality, and are re-exported to Japan, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and other countries, becoming the largest green pepper production base in China. It has introduced many varieties of big green peppers, such as Fuli No.1, Fuli No.2, 5029, 5018, Victoria, etc. At present, the planting area is more than 50,000 mu, making it the largest green pepper production base in the northern region.
