Pingshun Dahongpao Zanthoxylum bungeanum is a specialty of Pingshun County, Changzhi City, Shanxi Province. Pingshun Dahongpao Zanthoxylum bungeanum ranks first among Zanthoxylum bungeanum because of its thick peel, hemp fragrance, high oiliness and storage resistance. Pingshun County was named as "the hometown of Dahongpao Zanthoxylum bungeanum in China" by the Ministry of Agriculture and the National Association for Science and Technology. Pingshun is the earliest area in China to cultivate pepper. According to relevant data, as early as the Tang Dynasty, Pingshun began to cultivate pepper. It has a history of thousands of years, and it was once used as a tribute between Yuan and next year. Its black luster and rich fragrance have the effect of warming the stomach and diminishing inflammation, which is very popular among people. Pingshun Dahongpao Zanthoxylum bungeanum ranks first among Zanthoxylum bungeanum because of its thick peel, hemp fragrance, high oiliness and storage resistance. It is known as the "ten fragrant flowers" of Pingshun Zanthoxylum bungeanum and became a tribute to the court as early as the Tang Dynasty. In 1997, it was named "China Dahongpao Zanthoxylum Hometown" by the Ministry of Agriculture and the National Association for Science and Technology. At present, the cultivated area of Zanthoxylum bungeanum in the county is 134,000 mu, with an annual output of 1.75 million kilograms.
