Qing Xu Red Apricot: Also known as gold placer Red Apricot. A big round, small core, thin skin and thick meat, sweet and sour. Originally, apricot was planted in Shajiadi, Renyi Village for hundreds of years. Later, it was found that its fruit surface was bright in color and good in quality, so it began to propagate. The products produced by Renyi and Heping Springs are of the best quality. The cultivation of Qingxu apricot began in the Ming Dynasty. By the 1990s, nearly 200-year-old apricot trees were still alive. There are 23 kinds of apricots in the county, including gold placer Red Apricot, Laoyehong, Huangyin, Mantun, Begonia Red, Calf and Chuantiaohong, among which gold placer Red Apricot is a famous specialty. The cultivation history of gold placer red apricot is about 1200 years. The apricot, originally named Shajiadi in Renyi Village, was named Shajinhong because its fruit was bright and golden red. At the end of 20th century, the cultivated quantity of red apricot in gold placer accounted for about 89% of apricot trees in the county. Its origin is mainly distributed in the mountainous areas and piedmont diluvial fan areas belonging to Dongyu, Mayu and Qingyuan towns. Gold placer red apricots grow vigorously, and the trees are tall and open, with round heads or semicircles. Adult trees are generally 5 to 7 meters high. Propagation by grafting seedlings, bearing fruit 4 to 5 years after grafting, and entering the full fruit stage in 15 years, mainly bearing medium and short fruit branches and bouquets of short fruit branches. In general, the average yield of large trees in full fruit period is 200-300 kg, and the maximum yield per tree is 500 kg. This variety has strong adaptability, lax requirements on environmental conditions and long life, and the 100-year-old tree still has considerable output. Gold placer red apricots are bright in color and beautiful in appearance, with oblate fruit sides, with an average single fruit weight of 56.9 grams, and the largest one can reach more than 100 grams. The nutritional value of gold placer red apricots is very high, and the carotene, vitamin C and vitamin B contained when fresh are far more than those of apples. It also contains fructose, fruit acid (containing monosaccharide 3.2%, polysaccharide 11.4%, acid 1.4%, and the ratio of sugar to acid 8.14: 1), protein, calcium, phosphorus, etc. After fresh eating, it is helpful for digestion, increasing calcium in human body and softening blood vessels. Gold placer red apricot has high medicinal value. Almonds are sweet and bitter, both of which can be used medicinally. They have the functions of moistening lung, relieving cough and smoothing intestine, and can be used to treat cough, excessive phlegm, asthma and dry stool caused by colds. There are many earthworks that spread almond to treat diseases in Qingxu county, among which bronchitis and stomachache are the most effective. Gold placer red apricots can be eaten fresh and processed, and can be made into canned goods, dried apricots, fruit wine and other products. Gold placer Red Apricot in Qingxu won the Silver Award in Shanxi Agricultural Expo in 1995.
