Zhoucun Chili

Zhoucun Town, located 13km southwest of Hengshui jizhou city, is the birthplace and base center of pepper production in jizhou city. In 1998, Zhoucun Town was named "the hometown of peppers in China" by the Ministry of Agriculture. Jizhou pepper produced in the town is famous for its bright color, good pepper shape, strong spicy degree and strong fragrance. In 1997, Tianying pepper in this town registered the trademark of "Jizhou" in the State Administration for Industry and Commerce, and was rated as "high-quality brand-name product in Hebei Province". The suitable climate, abundant water resources and fertile land in Zhoucun Town provide good conditions for the cultivation of small peppers in Jizhou. Since the planting of Tianying pepper in 1988, the planting area of pepper has remained above 30,000 mu all the year round, and the yield per mu has stabilized at about 300 kg, which has led to the planting of pepper in 11 towns in the city. The planting area of the city has grown to 150,000 mu, with a total output of 45 million kg and an output value of 360 million yuan. The planting area has now expanded to more than 10 cities and counties in Xingtai, Shijiazhuang, Cangzhou, Langfang and Shandong Province, with a planting area of 300,000 mu. Located in the township, the professional pepper wholesale market covers an area of 205 mu and has more than 500 stores. In 2004, it was named as "the designated market for fresh agricultural products" by the Ministry of Agriculture.
