Yuxian paper-cutting

Produced in Yuxian County, Hebei Province. One is "smoking", that is, sticking thick paper samples or new design sketches on white paper, and then burning candles to smoke, so as to leave clear black samples on the white paper; Second, "stewing", that is, folding the Xuan paper used for window decoration to thirty or fifty layers for many times, then wetting it with water and compacting it by hand to form a whole for engraving; Three "engraving", that is, the black sample is placed on the stewed paper block and engraved with a knife; Four "dyeing", that is, spot dyeing and coloring on the carved white sample, and after the spot dyeing, the finished product is opened one by one. The local flavor is extremely strong. There are not many blanks in the composition, the lines are rough and powerful, and there are few fine stripes; Dare to deform and exaggerate; Strong decoration. The colors are bold and informal, and they are used to strong contrast, but they are not arbitrary and have their own rules.
