According to the Records of Taiyuan in Shanxi, as far back as the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Yuxian peach blossom millet was used to pay tribute to the emperor, called "Gong Mi", and was also listed as one of the four Gong Mi. According to the appraisal of China Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Taohua rice contains 13.1% protein, 0.25% lysine, 4.27% crude fat, and is also rich in calcium, phosphorus, iron, carotene and vitamins A, A1, B1 and B2, and the crude fiber content is the lowest among several major food crops.
