Lincheng jujube

Lincheng jujube is a specialty of Lincheng County, Xingtai City, Hebei Province. Lincheng Jujube has a long history of cultivation and is well known. It is one of the origins of jujube and the main source of income for farmers in the main jujube producing areas of Lincheng County. The development of jujube industry in Lincheng county experienced three ups and downs, the first time was in the 1960s, and the second time was in 1986-1989. Due to various reasons, the first two times failed to persist. In 1997, the county party committee and government decided to vigorously develop jujube industry on the basis of extensive investigation of the natural resources and forestry development history in Lincheng County. On May 7, 1997, Lincheng County Committee issued [1997] No.11 "Decision on Accelerating the Development of Jujube Industry", which opened the prelude to the third development of jujube industry. After 10 years of uninterrupted efforts, remarkable results have been achieved. The county has accumulated 180,000 mu of jujube, reaching more than 7 million plants, mainly distributed in Shicheng Township, Heicheng Town, Xishuang Town, Lincheng Town, Haozhuang Town and some areas of Zhaozhuang Township in hilly areas. In 2007, the county produced 2080 tons of fresh dates, and there were 14 small-scale candied dates processing plants, which could process 500 tons of candied dates annually, accounting for 24% of the total output of fresh dates, with a total output value of 10 million yuan. In 2009, the number of agricultural jujubes in Lincheng County reached 180,000 mu and 7 million plants, with one mu of jujube forest per capita. Jujubes with large stems were awarded the National Silver Award.
