Woven homespun

Woven homespun

Jize folk homespun is a pure cotton hand-woven jacquard textile, commonly known as "coarse cloth". It is woven by an ancient weaving and dyeing method (that is, a weaving and dyeing technique that has been passed down from Huang Daopo's time to the present) (a popular old homespun). Home-made cloth has a long history. In the Warring States Policy, there is a record of Ceng Zi's mother weaving. During the Yuan and Ming Dynasties, with the extensive planting of cotton in the Yellow River valley, it became more and more common to use cotton as raw material for spinning and weaving. People rub the traditional kudzu, hemp and silk weaving technology into cotton spinning technology. At that time, the craft was rough, the color was monotonous and there were few varieties. With the improvement of textile tools in Ming and Qing dynasties, the weaving and printing and dyeing techniques of folk homespun have been greatly improved, and cotton planting, spinning and weaving have gradually formed a scale. The pattern types of Jize folk homespun include two tapirs, four tapirs, jacquard pattern, walnut pattern, foreign devil drilling mountain, a road leading to Beijing, Wujiashan, Qijiashan, big twill, small twill, pomegranate blossom, jujube flower, homespun pattern, homespun couplet and so on. In 1970s, Jize rural household textile industry reached a prosperous period, with more than 30,000 homespun looms in the county, and more than 50,000 rural women engaged in textile in slack season. Almost every family in the village has a loom, and every family has two or three cotton spinning carts. Every family can independently carry out a full set of processes such as spinning, sizing, warping, rinsing, weaving and dyeing. At this time, people carried out research, reform and development in textile processing, and produced many products with fine weaving and dyeing techniques, including homespun words, homespun couplets, bean-flour printed cloth, printing and dyeing printed cloth and other products, which were mostly used by peasant women for their own wedding. With the advent of the era of commercialization and mechanization, the homespun technology tends to be silent under the impact of modern textiles. In recent years, with the continuous improvement of people's living standards, there is a new understanding of homespun, which makes all kinds of products healthy, comfortable and expensive, so there are a group of rural women who spin and weave in their leisure time, inheriting and developing the homespun technology that has been circulating for thousands of years in China.
