Bupleurum shexian

Chaihu in Shexian County is a specialty of Shexian County in Handan City, Hebei Province. The total content of saikosaponin A and D in Bupleurum chinense in Shexian county was 0.69% by Hebei Food and Drug Inspection Institute, which was 2.3 times as high as that stipulated in Pharmacopoeia (0.30%). In the war-torn War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression era, the health workers of the 129th Division of the Eighth Route Army, under the leadership of Health Minister Qian Xinzhong, successfully developed the world's first modern preparation of traditional Chinese medicine-Bupleurum Injection in Shexian in 1942, which saved the lives of countless commanders and people. To this day, Bupleurum chinense here is still the standard medicine for making People's Republic of China (PRC) Pharmacopoeia. Based on the resource advantages of wild medicinal materials, Shexian county guides farmers to artificially plant Chinese medicinal materials such as Bupleurum, Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Bureau, Poverty Alleviation Office and other departments to make industrial layout planning, and guides farmers to transfer land, adopting the development and management model of "company+cooperative+farmer", unified planting, unified management, unified seed purchase, unified sales, unified accounting and unified dividend distribution, promoting Chinese medicinal materials planting, and realizing forest-medicine intercropping and grain-medicine intercropping. At present, the planting area of Chinese herbal medicines in the county is 80,000 mu, and there are more than 10 planting parks over 1,000 mu. Among them, two provincial demonstration parks, Shexian Delukang Chaihu Demonstration Park and Taihang Pharmaceutical Danshen Belamcanda Demonstration Park, have become the models of 100 provincial demonstration parks in the province. The main planting varieties are Bupleurum, Salvia miltiorrhiza, Belamcanda, etc., and the average income of drug farmers is more than 1600 yuan. In 2014, the "Shexian Bupleurum" declared by Shexian Agricultural Technology Extension Center passed the examination and expert review by the Agricultural Products Quality and Safety Center of the Ministry of Agriculture, and implemented the registration and protection of national agricultural products geographical indications. The geographical protection scope defined by Chaihu in Shexian County: there are 308 villages in 17 townships including Pianjian Town, Piandian Township, Lutou Township, Liaocheng Town, Suobao Town, Dianzhen Town, Guxin Town, Xida Town, Hezhang Township, Guanfang Township, Gengle Town, Jingdian Town, Xixu Town, Longhu Township, mu jing xiang, Shecheng Town and Shentou Township.
