Qian' an manual papermaking

Qian 'an City, Hebei Province is bordered by Yanshan Mountains in the north and Bohai Sea in the south. Here, there are rich things, outstanding people, and a long history and culture. The broad masses of working people have created rich spiritual and material civilizations here. Handmade paper in Qian 'an City began in the late Yuan Dynasty and early Ming Dynasty (AD 1405), flourished in AD 1723, and reached its peak in the late Qing Dynasty and early Ming Dynasty. Before and after liberation, there were more than 830 handmade paper mills all over Qian 'an. Qian 'an hand-made paper mainly uses mulberry bark which is rich in local area as raw material, and after peeling, flattening, peeling, oiling, papermaking, drying and other processes (all manual operations), it is made into wool paper, red paper, painting and calligraphy paper, etc., which is a unique product of Qian 'an. Wool paper is named because there are uneven burrs around lime-beaten mulberry paper. Wool paper has the characteristics of strong tensile force and non-vulnerability. It was first used for pasting windows and roofs, and then improved for painting and calligraphy. Qian 'an Chinese painting paper (Qian 'an Xuan) does not run out of ink and absorbs water quickly, which is deeply loved by painters and painters at home and abroad. Qian 'an Maotou Paper Series has been exported to Japan, South Korea and Southeast Asia, and Liu Bingsen, a famous master of calligraphy and painting in China, used Qian 'an Paper to leave Mo Bao. Qian 'an hand-made paper has a long history, and its manual attainments are very exquisite. The wool paper, red paper and painting and calligraphy paper made by Qian 'an are irreplaceable by machine-made paper, and they are the best in the folk handicraft industry. In recent years, with the prosperity of machine-made paper industry and the market impact, Qian 'an handmade paper, although cheap, is gradually declining due to pure manual operation and high labor cost. At present, the old people who master Qian 'an's hand-made papermaking skills are old and endangered.
