At present, there are 292,000 mu of walnuts planted in Pingshan County, 36 "walnut professional villages" have emerged, 5 walnut bases with 10,000 mu have been built, 12 walnut trademarks have been registered, 11 walnut professional cooperatives and 2 walnut development associations have been established. In October, 2009, "Pingshan Cotton Walnut" won the gold medal at the second Walnut Congress in China, and successfully registered the geographical indication trademark, which was named "the hometown of walnuts in China" by the national forestry department.
