Located in Hangu District, one of the three coastal areas in Tianjin, the coastal area is across the river, with rich land resources such as beaches, wasteland and depressions, which have been rich in fishing and salt since ancient times. Shrimp farming in Hangu has become a large scale. In recent years, shrimp farming has not recovered due to national diseases, but shrimp farming in Hangu District has maintained a good trend of sustained and stable development, with the yield per unit area and per mu benefit ranking first in the city and even the whole country. In 1997, Hangu District was listed as one of the 12 national demonstration areas for the prevention and control of shrimp diseases, with a demonstration area of 300 mu and a total output of 124,500 kg of prawns, with an average output of 415 kg per mu and an average net profit of 35,000 yuan per mu. Appraised by well-known national experts and scholars, it ranks first in 12 demonstration areas in China (the average yield per mu in China is 75 kg, and the average benefit per mu is 5,200 yuan). In 1998, the demonstration area was 500 mu, producing 275,000 kilograms of prawns and 550 kilograms per mu, with an average profit of 32,000 yuan per mu, a radiation area of 5,000 mu, a pre-production of 1.25 million kilograms and an average profit of 250 kilograms per mu of 12,500 yuan. It is estimated that the shrimp production in the whole region will reach 1.6 million kilograms, with an average output of 110 kilograms per mu and a profit of 08,500 yuan. The size of artificially cultured prawns in Hangu District is large, with 20-25 prawns per 500g, good meat quality and delicious taste. Thanks to the unique natural resources and long-term exploration of breeding technology, this product won the second prize of Tianjin Science and Technology Progress Award.
