Shawo radish is produced in Xiaoshawo Village, Xinkou Town, Xiqing District, Tianjin, hence its name. The soil in Shawo Village is sticky with sand, which is especially suitable for the growth of radish. Therefore, the radish in this village has been deeply loved by the elders in Jinmen for nearly a hundred years, and it has the reputation of Shawo radish as a pear. Shawo Radish, also known as Tianjin Wei Qing Radish, is also known as "Sai Ya Li", which has a history of more than 300 years. Shawo radish is green all over, uniform and neat in appearance, smooth and delicate in skin, sweet, spicy and delicious, crisp and juicy, and cracked at a beat. It is described by the people as "eight petals falling off at one stroke", which is not only a vegetable but also a fruit with high nutritional value, but also has the effects of promoting digestion, transforming qi, moistening throat and appetizing. The soil quality of Shawo radish production area is particularly suitable for radish growth. There is also a legend: It is said that Emperor Jiajing of the Ming Dynasty had a love princess, who especially liked litchi. Minister Yan Song offered a plan to dig up the whole litchi tree and ship it to Tianjin, and then pick the litchi and send it to the palace, so as to keep the litchi fresh and delicious. Over time, more than ten acres of litchi trees have accumulated on the banks of Haihe River in Liu Zhuang. Later, the surplus soil was moved to Xinkou Town, Xiqing District, and the famous Shawo radish was planted. Shawo radish is a geographical indication certification trademark.
