Changping Gai persimmon

Changping District is one of the earliest areas in Beijing where covered persimmons are planted. At present, the oldest persimmon tree in the region has been over 400 to 500 years old, and the covered persimmons in the Ming Tombs are well-known traditional famous fruits in Beijing. Its big taste is sweet, and the largest one can weigh up to a catty. After softening in winter, the skin is soft and the juice is sweet, commonly known as' drinking honey'. Gai persimmon contains protein, fat, starch, pectin and other vitamins and minerals, and its sugar content accounts for more than 15%, so it is a nutritious fruit. It can stop bleeding, moisten intestines and lower blood pressure, and can also be made into persimmon, persimmon wine and candied fruit. At present, persimmon trees are planted in almost every household in mountainous towns such as Changling and shisanling town. The persimmon planting area in the whole region has reached more than 40,000 mu, with an annual output of more than 10 million kilograms.
